$160-$180k base + super Remote working (AU based) Greenfield Ownership – First reliability hire; shape systems, culture, and tooling from the ground up Intrinzic is proud to be partnering with a rapidly scaling SaaS company that’s transforming a deeply human, high-impact industry that is growing fast across Australia and North America. This Healthtech platform directly enables better support, access, and outcomes for thousands of people every day. It's tech with a tangible purpose, and it's scaling rapidly. This isn’t just a platform with purpose. It’s a product under pressure, and they’re looking for a strong Ruby engineer who can own and lead the way they scale — through smarter code, resilient patterns, and real-time observability. Why this role is exciting You’ll build reliability from the codebase up — not just maintain it. You’ll work across the development and platform teams, bringing structure and strategy to how things are monitored, deployed, and scaled. You’ll be given autonomy and trust to make technical decisions — no red tape, no endless approval chains. You’ll help define reliability culture: kill switches, retries, graceful degradation, observability tooling, disaster recovery — all of it. This is a remote role and you can be based anywhere in Australia. You’ll be responsible for: Refactoring and reinforcing a Ruby on Rails codebase — tackling performance, failure handling, background jobs (e.g. Sidekiq), caching, and service resilience. Improving the CI/CD pipeline (CircleCI) to ensure faster, safer releases. Introducing or evolving observability tooling like Datadog and New Relic to surface issues before they hit users. Designing reliability patterns: retries, fallbacks, graceful degradation, isolation of workloads, kill switches. Supporting the team with debugging tools, runbooks, and incident playbooks. Championing a reliability-first mindset across engineering and product teams. What makes you a good fit? You’ve worked in a fast-moving Product SaaS environment and understand how to balance speed and stability. You're a seasoned Ruby on Rails engineer who can spot fragility in code before it becomes a problem. You’ve embedded reliability into systems — not just through infra, but directly in code. You understand AWS (Lambda, Fargate, ECS) and can make smart calls on managed vs custom solutions. You care about observability and know how to build alerting and dashboards that are actionable, not just noisy. You like solving root causes, not just firefighting symptoms. The reality (read this before applying): This is not a polished platform. There are gaps. There’s work to do. You won’t be handed a playbook, you’ll be expected to help write it. If you’re most comfortable in environments with multiple layers of approval and step-by-step roadmaps, this may feel too unstructured. But… if you love the idea of joining a product with huge impact, shaping the reliability culture from scratch, and being the engineer everyone trusts when things go sideways — this is your kind of role.
