<strong>Job details</strong><br> <ul> <li>Software Engineers, often referred to as Development Experts, have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team.</li> <li>Software Engineers are responsible for the quality and functionality of software, ensuring adherence to relevant standards, guidelines, and methods for system development.&nbsp; They exercise a considerable degree of independence, working under the general guidance of senior management.</li> </ul> <strong>Key duties and responsibilities</strong><br> Duties may include some or all of the following:<br> <ul> <li>lead and create software and technical designs for the realisation of highly complex development solutions</li> <li>develop strategy to ensure high quality code and long-term maintenance of a product's code base</li> <li>provide specialist technical advice on software development and maintenance&nbsp;</li> <li>lead the release and ensure go-live production support and maintenance for the team's developments</li> <li>lead analysis, design, software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities</li> <li>review and undertake high-level analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutions</li> <li>ensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologies</li> <li>lead a positive risk management culture</li> <li>engage and manage stakeholder relationships and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability</li> <li>contribute to business and strategic workforce planning, and drive the development of local strategies to improve key performance measures</li> <li>review and prepare reports, briefs and corporate documentation and communicate technical findings and recommendations</li> <li>manage business objectives and implement strategic priorities to achieve outcomes</li> <li>lead the development and delivery of projects within the assigned area of responsibility</li> <li>perform and manage cost analysis activities as required</li> <li>lead and manage staff to increase performance and engagement through: <ul> <li>coaching</li> <li>capability development</li> <li>performance management</li> <li>health and well-being support</li> </ul> </li> <li>exercise appropriate delegation in accordance with legislations and guidelines.</li> </ul> <strong>In addition, the following Knowledge/Qualifications would be advantageous</strong><br> <ul> <li>Demonstrated practical experience in designing and developing high quality solutions in large and complex, enterprise environments</li> <li>Ability to perform the requirements of the role within a large complex and geographically dispersed ICT environment</li> <li>Demonstrated experience working in both Agile and waterfall work styles</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem solving skills to create and optimise SAP applications</li> </ul> <strong>About the organisation</strong><br> Services Australia is at the frontline of government service delivery, supporting millions of Australians, and is front and centre of a vision to be a world leader in government service delivery.
