Principal Software Engineer – Enterprise Transformation Program We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join a fast-paced, enterprise-scale transformation program within a leading financial services organisation. This is an opportunity to work on mission-critical systems, modernising technology platforms, and delivering digital experiences that will impact millions of customers. About the Role As a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in defining technical strategy and delivering complex solutions across cloud and on-premise environments. This role will see you leading the design and build of highly scalable microservices, APIs, and resilient digital platforms, all while applying a security-first mindset. You’ll be hands-on, guiding teams and mentoring engineers while influencing technical direction across the business. Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of large-scale, cloud-based software solutions. Modernise legacy platforms by breaking them into modular, maintainable systems. Build and optimise APIs and services capable of handling significant transaction loads. Ensure reliability and security through modern DevOps practices and automation. Contribute to architectural decisions that shape long-term technology direction. Establish high standards for code quality, testing, and performance monitoring. Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to engineering teams. Skills and Experience We’d like to hear from you if you bring: Proven expertise in backend development with .NET Core. Strong frontend skills in React/Redux (preferred) or Angular. Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases. Practical knowledge of AWS (preferred) or similar cloud platforms. Background in microservices design, including event-driven approaches. Proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Python. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools. A track record of building secure, resilient, and scalable systems.
