Data Architect - Federal Government (Sydney / Canberra / Melbourne) 12 Month Contract | $165 - $170 per hour inc super | Hybrid Australian Citizenship required About the Role We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join a large-scale Federal Government data transformation program. This role will be a key part of the project stream delivering an enterprise data warehouse platform. You will design and implement reporting data models, semantic layers, and a robust Power BI reporting architecture that will enable enterprise-scale analytics and insight-driven decision making. You will be a trusted advisor to both technical and business teams, providing technical leadership, governance, and best practice across data architecture, modelling, and end-to-end data delivery. What You Will Be Doing Design and enhance reporting data models and semantic layers to enable consumable reports and dashboards Establish the Power BI reporting architecture for enterprise analytics Define standards for metrics, taxonomy, and visual reporting across BI platforms Provide leadership and technical guidance on data architecture, patterns, and design Review and refine data frameworks to integrate new sources and improve performance Collaborate with data engineers and developers on data modelling, ETL, and data integration Partner with analysts and business teams to deliver scalable and standardised reporting solutions Support data governance, data security, and self-service analytics initiatives About YouTo be successful, you will have: Expertise in BI platforms, with strong experience in Power BI reporting architecture Demonstrated experience designing reporting data models and semantic layers Deep knowledge of Data Warehouse Architecture, Modelling, ETL/ELT, and SCD Strong SQL skills Hands-on experience with at least two of: Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks Proficiency with ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica, or dbt Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Desirable: Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP Knowledge of data modelling tools such as Erwin or Enterprise Architect You must be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this role.
