<ul> <li>Location - ACT or VIC</li> <li>Australian Citizens with NV1 Clearance</li> <li>Length of Contract: 2 months</li> <li>The role closes on 22nd April 2026</li> </ul> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br> <ul> <li>Perform critical and complex engineering activities and providing advice in the field of software systems engineering for the project.</li> <li>Perform the systems engineer role in a complex and diverse technological environment (i.e. systems of systems, disparate networking environments, radio systems and electro mechanical environments)</li> <li>Develop engineering plans and designs that are produced with, and consumed by, other engineering specialists.</li> <li>Support the Engineering Manager in development of engineering work packages that meet the needs of the scope of work and may include: <br>o Contribution to artefacts as part of the capability definition documentation and <br>management plans, processes and procedures. <br>o Contribution to the system architecture and systems integration specifications, <br>plans, procedures, reports and other technical material.</li> <li>Support the wider engineering, project management and commercial activities where systems engineering expertise is required.</li> <li>Monitor and ensure that safety aspects of Defence materiel systems are considered and incorporated into hardware and software engineering activities.</li> <li>Identify and resolve system engineering related technical issues and constraints and advise the engineering and project management functions on appropriate courses of action.</li> <li>Exercise any assigned engineering authorities and any technical regulatory authority delegations.</li> <li>Work collaboratively to develop and maintain beneficial, effective relationships and negotiate effectively to influence stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver agreed project outcomes.</li> <li>Assess, interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.</li> <li>Be accountable for accurate completion of work within defined timeframes and quality <br>requirements within a matrixed, integrated workforce.</li> </ul> <strong>Experience:</strong><br> <ul> <li>Systems Engineering with skills in planning, specification &amp; design in multiple phases of a program.</li> <li>Development and integration of personal location devices and the resulting data in centralised command and control eco-systems</li> <li>Analysis, design, review, and delivering high quality engineering documentation to support Government approvals and materiel delivery.</li> <li>Initiative, creativity and responsibility to perform a range and variety of complex technical work activities with limited guidance.</li> <li>Managing technical and integration risks.</li> <li>Working in complex and challenging environments.</li> <li>Working in a complex stakeholder system.</li> <li>Communications related software, and the associated enabling services and infrastructure.</li> <li>Applying testing and evaluation techniques across the system development life cycle.</li> <li>Highly effective, formal and informal communication skills including advanced technical writing skills.</li> <li>Initiative in keeping personal skills up to date, maintaining awareness of industry developments and pursuing continuous improvement opportunities.</li> <li>Ability to analyse, design, plan, execute, and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets while assessing and evaluating risk.</li> </ul> <strong>Essential Experience:</strong><br> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics/computers/communications/networking or similar) or an equivalent qualification that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a professional engineer.</li> <li>More than 8 year's engineering experience and more than 5 years' experience in the field of systems engineering.</li> <li>Comprehensive understanding in engineering of complex Defence systems.</li> <li>Understanding of Defence processes and structure.</li> <li>Understanding of the One Defence Capability System (formerly the Capability Life Cycle).</li> <li>Very strong written and oral communication skills.</li> </ul> <strong>Highly Desirable Experience:</strong><br> <ul> <li>Experience working in a Defence CASG engineering and/or project environment.</li> <li>Postgraduate qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience in software engineering.</li> <li>Experience in pre-Acquisition project activities including design, development and tender evaluations.</li> <li>Experience in the design, development and support of operational military communications and ICT systems.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience in ICT, engineering, cyber-security and integrated logistic support (ILS) processes and procedures in accordance with industry and Defence policy, standards and recognised best practices including test planning, conduct and automation.</li> <li>Experience with systems safety and cyber security.</li> <li>Experience with Australian Defence Force Land Domain tactical communications and ICT technologies.</li> <li>A sound understanding of DevSecOps and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)</li> <li>Experience with the MS Azure environment</li> <li>Experience with Linux based operating systems</li> </ul> <strong>Additional Criteria:</strong><br> <ul> <li>DSS - 2.1 Systems and Software Engineering - Systems Engineering - L3</li> <li>SFIA Skill Code - Systems and Software Lifecycle Engineering (SLEN) - L4</li> </ul> <strong>Please contact [email protected]&nbsp;or simply click apply to submit your application&nbsp;</strong><br>&nbsp;<br><strong>"We warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including First Nations Australians, Australian Defence Force and First Responder veterans, women in STEM, and people of all abilities, including those registered with the NDIS."</strong><br>&nbsp;<br><em>ARIS ZINC GROUP offers an end-to-end service approach with unique combination of expertise in recruiting, IT consulting and payroll services in the Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane markets.
